This photograph was taken as King tried to explain to his daughter Yolanda why she could not go to Funtown, a whites-only amusement park in Atlanta. King claims to have been tongue-tied when speaking to her. “One of the most painful experiences I have ever faced was to see her tears when I told her Funtown was closed to colored children, for I realized the first dark cloud of inferiority had floated into her little mental sky.”
My best friend Leia got into a horrible car accident on Monday, June 22nd with 3 of my other friends. She was ejected from the back window. She suffered two broken bones in her neck, a damaged spinal cord and a broken shoulder. She cannot feel anything from the chest down. She has been in the ICU since Monday and has just undergone a surgery to support her neck today. It is becoming very expensive for her family. There is a GoFundMe account set up to help raise money for all these bills her family has to pay. Please help support her and her family through this tough time and send prayers because they are much needed. It would mean a great deal to her family, her best friends, and I if you all could help support. Thank you.
